Improving the Logistics Industry in Buffalo Niagara

The Logistics Council works to improve the logistics industry in the Buffalo Niagara Region. One of its priorities is to promote Buffalo Niagara as a logistics hub for truck, rail and air freight. The Logistics Council met on April 9, 2007 at the Buffalo Niagara Partnership. The meeting covered a variety of topics related to the industry and related issues for this binational region.

Presentations from the April 9, 2007 Logistics Meeting:

  • A brief explanation of Ocean Cargo Insurance by Steve Jacobs of Lawley Insurance;

  • An update on WHTI and Shared Border Management by Luke Rich; and

  • An overview of the new Prince Rupert container port in British Columbia.

Prince Rupert promises to provide significant opportunity for the Buffalo Niagara logistics industry as it will be a significant North American gateway for containerized ocean freight to or from Asia. The first container vessel is scheduled to arrive there in October of this year.

Logistics Council meetings are free and open to anyone with an interest in logistics in the region. Contact: Patrick J. Whalen, World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara, pwhalen@wtcbn.com
